Student Support Coordinator
During her undergraduate studies at Westmont College, Dayna majored in Biology and Chemistry with a pre-medical emphasis. After earning her degree, she realized her passion for teaching through her work in the church’s high school ministry. Teaching combines her love of the sciences with the joy of impacting the lives of young people. This discovery led her to enroll in the Master’s in Education Program Pepperdine University.
Upon completion of her master’s degree, Dayna took a position as the founding science department faculty at Pacifica Santa Monica. In her role, she created and implemented science curriculum, established lab practices, launched the AP program, hired new faculty, and trained new science teachers. Dayna, along with her husband David, oversaw student life and international student travel programs, leading trips to Costa Rica, England, France, Italy, and Malawi. During their time in Santa Monica, David and Dayna poured their lives into their church, running both the high school group and the young-adults program.
In 2011, David became the Head of School at Providence Hall in Santa Barbara, taking the reigns from his predecessor Dr. David Winter, President Emeritus of Westmont College. During their time at Providence Hall, Dayna served alongside David assisting with community development. Then in 2014, the O’Neils moved to Orange County so David could begin as the founding Head of School at Pacifica Christian High School – Orange County.
As their youngest daughter transitions to Kindergarten, Dayna is delighted to jump back into teaching. Through the study of God’s created world, Dayna seeks to foster within her students a joy of learning, depth of faith, and desire to think and live well.
David and Dayna have two children, Hadley (7) and Chloe (5). The O’Neil’s enjoy the beach, baseball, reading, travel, concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, and spending time with their family.
