Joshua Norton

Dr. Joshua Norton is a postdoctoral researcher in the Logic and Philosophy of Science department at the University of California, Irvine. Prior to this he was an assistant professor of philosophy of science at the American University of Beirut.

Dr. Norton has seven years experience tutoring high school level mathematics as well as two years teaching SAT and ACT prep courses. He loves teaching mathematics, he loves high schoolers, and he loves Jesus. He is excited to share both the beauty and wonder of mathematics with the students of Pacifica.

In his post-doctoral work, Dr. Norton researches interpretive issues in quantum mechanics, the relation of physical theory to physical ontology and most recently, the philosophical foundations and implications of different quantum theories of gravity. He is particularly interested in the ontology of spacetime as suggested by general relativity and its quantum variants.

Dr. Norton is married to Melissa Norton and has two children, a son named Laith and a newborn daughter named Lior. They attend Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach.
