March 4, 2025
The second annual Tolkien retreat has come to a close, and the elven dreams of Middle Earth still linger in the hearts of those who have returned. Sixteen students and six faculty/staff headed to the majestic Leonard Lake Reserve for seven days and six nights of reading, reflection, fellowship, and worship. Each day began with a full breakfast and morning worship, and every evening ended with singing the beautiful hymn Abide with Me. Then most of each day was spent reading one of the six books of The Lord of the Rings.

On Wednesday, January 22nd, Pacifica’s AP Art students had the lovely privilege of traveling to the Fieldstead Art Gallery in Irvine to see an exhibit entitled “Face Value.” The exhibit features an eclectic mix of portraiture from the 14th century up to the present day across a variety of media from oil paintings, to woodcuts, to sculptures.

Peter Brandes died on January 4th, 2025. He was 80 years old. Brandes was a Danish painter and sculptor, who worked in stained glass and ceramics. He is perhaps most famous for his work on St. Andrew’s chapel at the Roskilde Cathedral, his Urns and stained glass pieces at the Village of Hope, the Library at St. Michael’s Abbey, and his resurrection relief wall and stained glass at Biola University’s Calvary chapel.
