Service Learning Program

The Service Learning Program (SLP) at Pacifica, teaches the Triton community the value and importance of serving those in need.

This program takes place throughout the school year, however students are allowed and greatly encouraged to do pre-approved projects and various mission trips in the summer to achieve the yearly requirement of 25 service hours. Tritons volunteer and serve in various capacities, which include (but are not limited to) churches, non-profit organizations, local businesses, and some even go so far as to create their own projects or programs that serve a specific need. Overall, the SLP builds upon the mission of Pacifica which aims to create a culture of thinking and living well. Serving others is a foundational piece of thinking and living well as we daily strive to be more like Jesus.

SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Tritons, as we serve our communities, let us be reminded of the humble imagery of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples in John 13. When Jesus finished washing their feet, He left his disciples with a challenge, “Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” (John 13:16-17). This is a challenge not just to the disciples, but to all followers of Jesus, to serve others as Christ served his disciples. When we serve others, it is important to do so in a way that honors and glorifies the one who sends you. Serve with joy and grace, and pursue things that are good, true and beautiful.
