The Parent Experience

Stay Connected • Cultivate Community • Support the Mission

Pacifica BOOK CLUB

The Pacifica Book Club is designed for parents to accompany our students’ intellectual and moral growth, following their chronological curriculum from 9th to 12th grade. We invite you to read alongside your students, cultivating a home and school culture of reading, thoughtful conversation, and the joy of a life together in pursuit of the good, true, and beautiful. In-person meetings are led by faculty and include 10-20 parents that meet once weekly for six weeks.

The Odyssey: In-person gatherings are underway; subscribe to our asynchronous reading guide to read at any point in time!

Pacifica Parent Partnership (P3)

Pacifica thrives when our families are actively engaged in the life of our school. Just as co-curriculars provide opportunities for student involvement, Pacifica Parent Partnership (P3) provides for parent engagement. Through the committees listed below, parents are invited to volunteer their time and talent, affording critical support for Pacifica’s programs and activities while fostering friendship and cultivating community. Whether you can help on a one-time basis or throughout the year, every effort is valued and makes a positive impact for our students! Email Kathy Mellert at [email protected] to get involved.

COFFEE WITH THE HEAD

As we strive to stay connected, every fall, the Head of School, David O’Neil, invites parents to attend Coffee with the Head. At this gathering in the Triton Event Center, Mr. O’Neil shares with the community a vision for the year ahead and highlights from the year before. You do not want to miss this annual informational meeting!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT

Every fall, Back-to-School night is a time for all parents to meet their students' teachers, understand curricular goals for each class, and establish a unique parent-teacher connection that promotes student learning.

PARENTS & Pedagogy

Every year, we invite all Pacifica parents to Parents & Pedagogy, an on-campus lecture series that offers a peek into Pacifica's curriculum. At this event, we begin our time together cultivating community in a casual social environment, then head into the classroom for grade-specific lectures by our esteemed faculty. Our hope is that after attending you will be equipped and excited to engage in meaningful conversation with your students about what they are learning at school.

MIX & MINGLE EVENTS

Throughout the year, we provide multiple opportunities for Pacifica parents to spend time cultivating community with each other at our grade-specific Parent Mix & Mingle Events. At these events, parents enjoy light refreshments, great conversation, and sometimes even a fun activity or few words from our Head of School. The goal of these social gatherings is simply to facilitate environments where meaningful connections can be made and relationships can be formed.
