With the continued growth of Pacifica's student body, we are thrilled to share that we have hired an additional faculty member for the 2023-2024 school year! Mr. Craig Bruinsmawill be joining our Mathematics Department team in the fall and is excited about Pacifica's mission of freeing the next generation to think and live well.

Craig Bruinsma was born and raised in Southern California. Craig is passionate about teaching and empowering students to succeed in mathematics. He studied mathematics and secondary education at Northwestern College, where he graduated summa cum laude. During college, Mr. Bruinsma worked as a peer tutor in Northwestern’s Peer Learning Center and served as an undergraduate Teacher's Assistant, where he provided support and instruction to college students in various math courses up to multi-variable calculus. His tutoring experience in college confirmed his passion for teaching mathematics.

After graduating from college, Craig worked as a mathematics teacher at Ontario Christian High School for 5 years where he taught Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC, in addition to serving as an assistant football coach. Sports have always been a big part of his life, as he played football and basketball throughout his childhood and teenage years. In addition to teaching and coaching, he is passionate about mentoring and walking alongside students in their discipleship journey of following Jesus.

While at Ontario Christian, Mr. Bruinsma volunteered as a Young Life leader and led an anxiety/depression support group for students on campus. His passion for ministry led him to pursue a M.A. in Theology & Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary. He is excited to continue teaching mathematics at Pacifica while he completes his studies at Fuller. 

In his free time, Craig enjoys being active and outdoors. He loves fitness, hiking, surfing, and playing pick-up basketball whenever he gets the chance.
