The Triton Speech & Debate Team kicked off March in style with a strong showing at the Orange County Speech League’s State Qualifying Tournament.

The Tritons brought ten competitors to the tournament, representing Pacifica in six different speech events as well as Lincoln-Douglas debate. The whole team had a great showing, with Pacifica students earning an outsized number of State Championship slots relative to the size of the school. When the dust settled, five Tritons had earned invitations to compete at State in debate and three speech events, with two other Triton competitors on deck as alternates in two more speech categories.

Now in its third year, the Triton Speech & Debate team has developed a vibrant culture and a reputation for excellence at league tournaments. In a league characterized by highly-technical, jargon-filled styles of presentation, the Triton team brings a refreshing civility and ability to communicate with all kinds of judges and audiences. We look forward to bringing that signature Triton flare to this year’s State Championship at Culver City High School from May 2-4, 2025.
