November 10th, 2015

PacificaChristianHigh_Primary1 Pacifica Christian High School is pleased to announce its partnership with Newport Orthopedic Institute (NOI) for the upcoming 2015-2016 Winter Sports Season. NOI will be providing Pacifica Christian Athletics with Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) coverage for specific Girls Soccer and Boys Basketball games during their respective seasons. The collaboration will focus on physical fitness management and education around the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. Pacifica’s Director of Athletics, Brandon Gonzalez, stated, "I am extremely excited about this partnership, and the opportunity to work with NOI. The key here is student-athlete safety, and having an ATC on site during home games will help ensure our student-athletes receive top-level care." NOI is the largest orthopedic and musculoskeletal group in coastal Orange County. With their “motion is life” foundation, they provide a continuum of care ranging from conservative treatment to surgical intervention in every area of orthopedics. The breadth of experience and expertise of NOI's 20 Board-certified or Board-eligible Specialists serves patients well by providing a high level of comprehensive care and service in every major orthopedic specialty. Their specialties include Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery, Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement Surgery, Disorders of the Spine, Foot and Ankle Surgery, Hand Surgery, Physical Medicine and Pain Management, Orthopedic Trauma, and Non-Surgical Orthopedic Care. "NOI's Human Performance and Sports Medicine Program allows the opportunity for certified athletic trainers to establish relationships and partnerships with the athletic and active communities in Orange County," explained NOI’s Morgan Montalvo. "As an ATC and the manager of this program, I look forward to working with the student-athletes, coaches, parents, and administration of Pacifica Christian. Injury prevention, education, care of sport related injury, and collaboration with physicians is a way to provide comprehensive care to these student-athletes. We are excited to be a part of this great opportunity." Pacifica Christian Athletes will also have access to a highly qualified Sports Medicine Team, specializing in exercise and sports science. Student-athletes will have the opportunity to participate in concussion baseline testing with the certified athletic trainers and physicians which will aid in a safe return to play and return to learn protocol. There will also be numerous educational opportunities and workshops for parents, players, and coaches to learn more about player safety, injury prevention, injury recovery, and general "best practices" relating to the exercise and sports medicine world.
