Tritons Make Waves at State Thespian Festival

April 24th, 2019

Seven Pacifica students earned Superior rankings from judge panels at The California State Thespian Festival and have been invited to perform at the International Thespian Festival this summer. Earning a Superior rank is an honor described as “the theatre arts equivalent of winning both CIF and State Championship rolled into one”.

Schools from all over the state of California competed in voice, acting and dance.  Sydney Penticuff and Emma Hammond won in the vocal category. Sydney thrilled the adjudicators with “Think of Me” from The Phantom of the Opera, and Emma blew them away with her rendition of “Someone like You” from Jekyll and Hyde.

In the monologue category, Kieran Ahn impressed all with his performance selections from Henry V and The Actor’s Nightmare.  Olivia Pompilii affected everyone deeply with her performances from Mother Courage, and Crimes of the Heart, Titus Ward drew silent tears and prodigious laughter from the audience with monologues from Macbeth and The Foreigner, and Anna Warren electrified everyone with monologues from Macbeth and Promedy.

In musical theatre dance, Anna Hammond was a showstopper with her West Side Story performance.

The 19 member  Triton team from Pacifica made a huge splash at the California State Thespian Festival, earning respect and notoriety. Performing arts at Pacifica is producing students who are creatively changing the world, and powerfully connecting with others. Pacifica’s art of thinking and living well impressed both theatre teachers, professional guest artists, and participating students at the California State Thespian Festival. Congratulations to all who participated, and especially to our seven champions!
