Pacifica Book of the Quarter
March 14th, 2024
We are excited to announce Pacifica's new Book of the Quarter!
This is a way for us to share the love we, your teachers and staff, have for literature.
Each quarter a different member of Pacifica's faculty or staff will share with us a book that has brought them joy! This recommendation is not an excuse to assign you more homework, but rather an invitation to share in something that has inspired and moved us, and, therefore, to know us a little bit better. There are no deadlines or tests here, but if you decide to read the Book of the Quarter, please let the person who chose it know if it brought you some joy, inspiration, or contemplation.
For this quarter's Book we present A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, chosen by Mr. Dan Bellum!
Here is what Mr. Bellum says about why he picked this book:

Here is what Mr. Bellum says about why he picked this book:
"A Wizard of Earthsea is about a young man with great power, Ged, and what he does when he must face the consequences of his own mistakes. Ged's tale is full of magic, marvelous journeys, and adventure, all set in Le Guin's world, Earthsea, a windswept archipelago unlike any other fantasy setting. Beyond these fantasy elements, however, this story presents the difficult struggle of a young person to attain maturity and wholeness, something relatable to any reader."
Please join us in reading A Wizard of Earthsea this month!
You can purchase the book at any bookstore, on Amazon at this link, or check it out from the local libraries.
