Biography

Steven Gonzalez comes to Pacifica from USC, where he was a fellow in General Education. During his time at USC he taught courses on Labor in the Ancient World and on the Environmental Humanities and the Classics. These classes represent his research interests: Roman agronomy, labor, and slavery.

Steven grew up in Bakersfield, California and attended Foothill High School where he was a member of the orchestra, marching band, concert band, and jazz band. He did his undergraduate degree in Classical Languages at UC Berkeley, an M.A. from San Francisco State, and his Ph.D. from USC. He brings with him his past experiences of working at De La Salle and Chaminade College Preparatory High School.

Steven currently lives in the San Gabriel Valley and attends Lake Avenue Church, where he is a member of the Lake Avenue Choir. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, bass, running, cycling, and lifting weights.
