Father, We thank you for the traffic that slows our anxious souls and makes us late, the bad grade that hobbles our self-perception, the role we missed out on, the injury that forces us to question what we’ve placed our identity in. We thank you, in other words, for anything that humbles us before the mystery of life and keeps us from the folly of worshiping the works of our own hands. You alone are God. You alone are worthy of our praise, and together we bless your name. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
